A report of a 15-year-old boy experiencing a mental health crisis brought police officers in tactical gear to a home on the 200 block of Buchanan Street on Sunday, June 1, an Alexandria police spokesman said.
A major police presence was at the scene from around 11:30 a.m. to just before 1 p.m., when police confirmed the call was bogus, police said.
Last month, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed a bill increasing the punishments for reporting false emergencies and threats.
Last weekend's incident remains under investigation.
